With my first PPR fantasy football mock draft of 2015 under my belt, I feel ready to go for a live draft. Below are the results of my mock draft along with projected standings. With the 8th overall pick in the draft, I grabbed the second year pro Odell Beckham JR from the NY Giants. To be honest, I may have drafted Beckham 8th overall regardless if it were a PPR league! You really can't go wrong with a guy who puts up stats like Beckham. Not even the vaunted Seahawks secondary could cover this guy (too bad we won't know for sure).
With my second pick, I grabbed Julio Jones. Despite some injury concern with the Atlanta Falcons WR, he's an elite talent, and worth a second round selection in my 2015 PPR mock draft. With my third round pick coming my way, I was upset to see both Andrew Luck and Aaron Rodgers come off the board. I decided to go back to the WR position and pick up Brandin Cooks, a guy that most fantasy analysts are projecting to have a monster year. My first RB came in round 4 with Carlos Hyde from the San Francisco 49ers. Hyde has ridiculous upside and will be the bell-cow in a run heavy offense. My 5th round selection landed my second RB Melvin Gordon from the San Diego Chargers. I am unsure how Gordon fell until the 5th round, but I am guessing it has to do with the fact this is a PPR league. The Raiders RB Latavius Murray was my 3rd RB, and taking him in the 6th round was quite a bargain. Murray was one of the bright spots of Raiders offense in 2014, and should be stay healthy he could finish as a top 10 RB in 2015. With another year of experience for David Carr and a deep threat in Amari Cooper, the Raiders offense is looking good. Although I am sure I could have waited another round or two, I picked up Eli Manning in the 7th round. Not a sexy pick by any stretch of the imagination, but a solid QB nonetheless. Vincent Jackson was my 8th round selection despite his ADP that had him projected to go in the 6th. Speaking of Amari Cooper, he dropped into the 9th round, and I was able to pick him up as well. I don't feel great about starting 2 Raiders on my fantasy football team, but they are high-risk high-reward players who I am happy to keep on my bench. My Team QB1 - Eli Manning (NYG) QB2 - Colin Kaepernick (SF) RB1 - Carlos Hyde (SF) RB2 - Melvin Gordon (SD) RB3 - Latavius Murray (OAK) RB4 - Charles Sims (TB) WR1 - Odell Beckham (NYG) WR2 - Julio Jones (ATL) WR3 - Brandin Cooks (NO) WR4 - Vincent Jackson (TB) WR5 - Amari Cooper (OAK) TE1 - Delanie Walker (TEN) TE2 - Josh Hill (NO) K - Matt Bryant (ATL) DST - Arizona Cardinals (Ari) Despite what I thought was a pretty solid team, I was actually projected to finish last!!
